The college search

Navigating the college search

A two-part guide for students and families from Corebridge Financial and college admissions expert Jeffrey Selingo.

Step into the future you've imagined

  • Discuss the type of college experience you want.
  • Understand what schools look for applicants.
  • Consider how to pay for college - and the value of the investment.

Part 1:
Finding the Right Fit

The college admissions process can be overwhelming. Knowing which schools to consider and why, or whether they are a “financial fit,” is a lot to consider — and this is just the beginning of the process.

Part 1: Finding the Right Fit, breaks down the “where and why” process by helping to prioritize needs and understand cost – including key terms to know and conversation starters for families.

Part 2:
The ROI of a Degree

What matters in gaining admission? How will my choices impact future opportunities? Holistic admissions considers factors beyond grades and test scores, including where students spend their time and energy.

Part 2: Getting In and Determining the Value (ROI) of a Degree dives deeper into the admissions process, what’s most important in applying to college, and ways to determine the true value of a degree.
