April is National Financial Capability Month, an opportunity to highlight the value of financial education in improving the financial well-being of all Americans. To celebrate, Team Corebridge participated in multiple financial literacy volunteer events with our national partner, Junior Achievement USA, which also coincided with our larger Global Volunteer Month campaign.
Junior Achievement USA is the nation's largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures and make smart academic and economic choices. Through career fairs, a stock market challenge, and engaging students at Junior Achievement “Finance Parks” across the country, our employees are taking action to help high schoolers make intelligent financial decisions that will last a lifetime.
Tor Butterfield, Director of Product Management, has been volunteering with Junior Achievement in Houston for over ten years. “Learning financial literacy at a young age through programs like JA helps students recognize that money can grow in value when you invest it,” he said. “Volunteers leave events with smiles and new perspectives on the opportunities we have to make a real difference through action in the community.”
